The Illinois SCOERs awards are made possible because of a generous grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) and the United States Department of Education's Open Textbook Pilot Program.

Open Pedagogy Workshop

  • Not currently scheduled. When offered, the CARLI OER Committee invites members to share with their teaching faculty this opportunity to learn more about Open Pedagogy. When you use open pedagogy in your classroom, you are inviting students to be part of the teaching process, participating in the co-creation of knowledge. In this online workshop, you will learn the definition and context of Open Pedagogy, view innovative examples being applied in a variety of subjects and formats, and work with other attendees to create an assignment that you can use in your own class.

Illinois Secretary of State/Illinois State Library OER Grant Program

Although no additional information sessions are scheduled, here's a recording of a session. CARLI offers OER Grants Office Hours to answer questions about the Illinois SCOERs and the Illinois State Library OER Grant programs. These are every Wednesday from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., central time. All can be found on the CARLI calendar. No registration is required.

Illinois SCOERs

CARLI and the Illinois Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources (SCOERs) team are pleased to announce a series of workshops related to the creation of OER. These workshops are designed to build expertise in our member libraries in the areas of Instructional Design, Accessibility, Copyright and Creative Commons, and 3D Printing. This training series is made possible through generous funding from FIPSE and the U.S. Department of Education.

These workshops are open to all CARLI Members and their faculty and staff. Recordings are available from the Illinois SCOERs Workshop page.

OpenCon Ohio 2024 (VIRTUAL)

  • May 17, 2024 - A virtual conference with with asynchronous activities earlier in the week. OpenCon Ohio's theme this year will be Innovations in Open Education. Topics could include AI in Open Education, Student Engagement, Affordable Learning, Open Authoring, Promoting and Authoring of OERs, Publisher and Bookstore Relations, but other topics are welcome. Free registration is now available.

Florida OER Summit 2024 (Virtual)

  • May 23-24, 2024 - A free virtual event. Explore existing trends, look towards innovative directions, and discover how OER positively impacts students, faculty, and institutions. The theme of this year's Summit is "Innovations and Trends." Free registration is now available.

Open Education Conference (Hybrid)

  • October 8-10, 2024 - The theme of the 2024 Open Education Conference is “It’s About Time.”  The in-person location is Providence, Rhode Island (USA). Earlybird virtual registration fee is $75. Earlybird in-person registration fee is $450. Registration is not yet available.
