  • March 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Key Findings and Student Reflections from the "Illinois Course Materials Survey: Student Perspective. CARLI staff will be joined by a student panel reflecting on these results.
  • March 8, 2024, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Open Pedagoy Workshop. The CARLI OER Committee invites members to share with their teaching faculty this opportunity to learn more about Open Pedagogy. When you use open pedagogy in your classroom, you are inviting students to be part of the teaching process, participating in the co-creation of knowledge. In this online workshop, you will learn the definition and context of Open Pedagogy, view innovative examples being applied in a variety of subjects and formats, and work with other attendees to create an assignment that you can use in your own class.

Open Pedagogy Workshop

Illinois SCOERs

CARLI and the Illinois Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources (SCOERs) team are pleased to announce a series of workshops related to the creation of OER. These workshops are designed to build expertise in our member libraries in the areas of Instructional Design, Accessibility, Copyright and Creative Commons, and 3D Printing. This training series is made possible through generous funding from FIPSE and the U.S. Department of Education.

These workshops are open to all CARLI Members and their faculty and staff. Recordings are available from the Illinois SCOERs Workshop page.

Open Nursing Summit (Virtual)

  • February 28 - 29, 2024 - The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB) Division of Digital Learning and OpenStax at Rice University have worked with nursing educators across Texas and the nation to create eight peer-reviewed, freely available nursing textbooks, aligned with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Essentials Curriculum. The textbooks will be available digitally in February 2024.

    We invite you and interested parties at your institution to attend the Open Nursing Education Summit on February 27-28, 2024, and explore effective incorporation of the eight textbook nursing series into courses and programs while sharing ideas for adapting the openly licensed books to the needs of your institution. This free, virtual event will also feature industry experts and nursing education leaders, instructors, and administrators who will discuss critical issues in nursing education and how to address them through the power of open education.

Spring 2024 Missouri Affordable and Open Educational Resources (A&OER) Conference (Virtual)

  • March 7, 2024 - A free virtual conference with the 2024 theme of “OER: A Student-Focused Innovation.” It will focus on faculty/instructor/teacher experiences adopting and adapting OER, creative uses for OER in the classroom, the impact of OER on student outcomes, open practice and pedagogy. Registration is required. Registration deadline in March 5.

Northeast OER Summit (Virtual)

  • April 4-5, 2024 - A multi-state collaborative virtual event for new and experienced OER advocates offering the opportunity to learn and share effective practices in awareness building, implementation, collaboration, strategy, and research. The theme for 2024 is "A World Beyond Affordability." The call for proposals has has been extended to February 2nd. Registration is available. Cost: $35.00 for those who register before March 28; $50.00 for those who register after March 28 and to the start of the event; always free for undergraduates.

All things Open Week 2024 (Virtual)

  • April 15 - 18, 2024 - A free virtual week-long series of events hosted by Kennesaw State University (KSU) Libraries and Texas Tech University (TTU) Libraries is dedicated to promoting inclusive and intentional open access practices regardless of discipline or audience. The theme of this year’s conference is “Growing Beyond Your Borders.” Topics include Open Access, Open Data, Open Education and Pedagogy, Open Science, Open Source, Open Legalities, and more. The call for proposals closes March 1, 2024. Registration not yet available.

OpenCon Ohio 2024 (VIRTUAL)

  • May 17, 2024 - A virtual conference with with asynchronous activities earlier in the week. OpenCon Ohio's theme this year will be Innovations in Open Education. Topics could include AI in Open Education, Student Engagement, Affordable Learning, Open Authoring, Promoting and Authoring of OERs, Publisher and Bookstore Relations, but other topics are welcome. Registration not yet available.

Florida OER Summit 2024 (Virtual)

  • May 23-24, 2024 - A free virtual event. Explore existing trends, look towards innovative directions, and discover how OER positively impacts students, faculty, and institutions. The theme of this year's Summit is "Innovations and Trends." The call for proposals is available. Proposals are due February 28, 2024. Registration not yet available.
