Open Pedagogy Workshop
This workshop is not currently scheduled. This program is available for CARLI Members' faculty and CARLI Members. When you use open pedagogy in your classroom, you are inviting students to be part of the teaching process, participating in the co-creation of knowledge. In this online workshop, you will learn the definition and context of Open Pedagogy, view innovative examples being applied in a variety of subjects and formats, and work with other attendees to create an assignment that you can use in your own class.

Illinois SCOERs
CARLI and the Illinois Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources (SCOERs) team are pleased to announce a series of workshops related to the creation of OER. These workshops are designed to build expertise in our member libraries in the areas of Instructional Design, Accessibility, Copyright and Creative Commons, and 3D Printing. This training series is made possible through generous funding from FIPSE and the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois SCOERs: Copyright Basics and Creative Commons Licensing
- November 28, 2023, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Sara Benson, Copyright Librarian at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will take you through how copyright is formed, licensed, and how to find copyright free or openly licensed images and articles. This program is designed for the Illinois SCOERs grantees and is open to all CARLI members.
Illinois SCOERs: Permissions and Fair Use
- December 5, 2023, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. - This second program with Sara Benson, Copyright Librarian at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will take you through copyright permissions and fair use. In creating Open Educational Resources, you might find that you need to use an article or image that has traditional copyright. If you must use a copyright protected item, learn about how to conduct a fair use analysis and, in the alternative, how to ask for permission to use a copyright protected item in your work.

Spring 2024 Missouri Affordable and Open Educational Resources (A&OER) Conference (Virtual)
- March 7, 2024 - A free virtual conference with the 2024 theme of “OER: A Student-Focused Innovation.” It will focus on faculty/instructor/teacher experiences adopting and adapting OER, creative uses for OER in the classroom, the impact of OER on student outcomes, open practice and pedagogy. Call for Proposals are due November 30, 2023. Registration not yet available.
