Leganto for CARLI I-Share Libraries

Revised: February 2, 2024

What is Leganto?

Leganto is a course resource list solution that integrates Alma with your Learning Management System.

  • Libraries can streamline access to course materials by making use of library collections, librarians’ expertise, and library services.
  • Instructors can build lists of resources that include multiple material types and leverage resources for active learning.
  • Students can access course materials in one place and from any device.
  • Librarians can provide resources efficiently and scale up to support more courses.

Ex Libris presented an informational webinar for I-Share Libraries on Sept. 21, 2023 (47 mins.)

Leganto and I-Share

Leganto is not included as part of CARLI's contract with Ex Libris for Alma for I-Share. A separate subscription for Leganto is required to use the Leganto product within Alma.

However, Ex Libris and CARLI have negotiated pricing for CARLI I-Share libraries. I-Share libraries should contact to request fee information.

Subscription Information

Leganto subscriptions follow a July-June fiscal year. The first year of Leganto billing will include two charges:

  • A one-time implementation fee
  • A pro-rated annual subscription fee for the Leganto service, based on FTE

After the first year, only the annual subscription fee is charged. Contact for Leganto pricing information.

Once an I-Share library has subscribed, to continue to subscribe to Leganto, the library will need to continue their subscription in the CARLI Selection System during the annual "Software as a Service" (SaaS) Cycle.

    Leganto Implementation

Leganto requires a 10-week implementation period, during which Ex Libris works with a small team at the subscribing library. The library team often consists of the following:

    • A library staff member who will oversee the implementation process, as well as other staff involved with the creation of resource lists
    • A person from campus IT, or a liaison to the office in charge of the campus Learning Management System
    • Faculty member(s) who will be part of the pilot launch of Leganto

    The 10-week implementation includes:

    • Weekly meetings with the Ex Libris Leganto Implementation Team
    • 5 weeks of initial setup and configuration
    • 5 weeks of functional testing, training of pilot faculty, and campus engagement planning

Libraries interested in Leganto should plan to spend one full semester for onboarding, kickoff, and implementation. This is followed by a pilot launch with a small group of faculty the following semester, with a campus-wide launch the semester after that.
