CLOCKSS has agreed to special pricing for CARLI Governing member libraries that wish to support the archive. To encourage participation, CLOCKSS is pleased to offer all CARLI Consortium members a 10% discount on the annual participation fees, with a special discount price for small libraries.
While there is no final information available about the state budget at this time, CARLI was directed to model a 20% permanent budget reduction in operating expenses beginning July 1, 2015. CARLI is committed to protecting Governing member access to EBSCO Academic Search Complete, and I-Share. Rather than make cuts to our most critical programs, we are instead limiting initial reductions to current programs and services that will have a less severe effect on the patrons of member libraries in FY16.
Final Results from the 2015 Board of Directors Election
The election and appointment process for new members of the CARLI Board of Directors has been completed. Directors elected to 3-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 are: Dennis Krieb (Lewis and Clark Community College), John Wilkin (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign) and David Stern (Saint Xavier University).
Directors appointed to one-year terms are: Jim Cubit (Lake Forest College), Lydia Morrow Ruetten (Governors State University) and Cate Kaufman (Illinois Central College).
Voting is now open for seats on the CARLI Board of Directors. Each of the CARLI constituencies—Community Colleges; Private Colleges and Universities; and Public Universities—will elect one new Board member for a three-year term (July 1, 2015–June 30, 2018).
Voting will remain open until 5 pm on Friday, May 8, 2015.

Service on CARLI committees affords individuals a unique opportunity to use their experience and expertise to help shape the future of the consortium and its services. CARLI is now seeking volunteers to serve on 9 advisory committees. Volunteers chosen will serve a three-year term, July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018. Faculty and staff members from all CARLI member libraries, with all levels of experience, are encouraged to apply.
Registration is now open for the following 3 Resource Sharing Open Houses. At each location there will be a work flow tour and discussion period. These events, sponsored by the Resource Sharing Committee, are open to all CARLI members.

The CARLI I-Share Next (ISN) Task Force is coordinating the effort related to the selection of the next generation of I-Share, i.e., a shared library management system that will ultimately replace Voyager for CARLI’s I-Share participant institutions. They are coordinating all planning, analysis, specification compilation, Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation and proposal review; they will identify the finalist options; and they ultimately will recommend a final preferred solution to the CARLI Board.
Each year, all Illinois library system member libraries (including all CARLI libraries) must complete the Illinois State Library’s mandatory library certification in order to qualify for State Library system services, programs and grants. The certification must be completed by March 31, 2015.
CARLI is seeking proposals for its FY2015 Research Subsidy Program. Funded by the CARLI Board of Directors, the research awards will support research projects in Governing member libraries. Projects should have the potential to impact libraries and the library profession positively, have the potential to provide a useful addition to the existing literature, and be of interest or use to CARLI libraries. Total funding for FY2015 is $25,000.
CARLI seeks teams of academic library staff members for ILEAD USA (Innovative Librarians Explore, Apply and Discover): The 21st Century Technology and Leadership Skills Institute for the States, hosted by the Illinois State Library.
This continuing education initiative will be held at the University of Illinois Springfield, March 23–26, June 22–25 and October 26–29, 2015. The ILEAD USA states partnering with Illinois are Delaware, Maine, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah and Wisconsin.
E-Resources: Calendar Year 2015 Database Selection Period
The Database Selection Period for new subscriptions and renewals for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2015 will run through mid-November. CARLI staff will send a detailed announcement and instructions to the E-Resources Contacts and CCG email lists when the password-protected CARLI selection database is available.
