Volunteer for a CARLI Committee

Each year CARLI has a number of opportunities to serve on various committees. Service on CARLI committees affords individuals a unique opportunity to use their experience and expertise to help shape the future of the consortium and its services. CARLI is now seeking volunteers to serve on 9 advisory committees. Volunteers chosen will serve a three-year term, July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019. Faculty and staff members from all CARLI member libraries, with all levels of experience, are encouraged to apply.

Tumblr Project Podcast

The CARLI Created Content Committee has posted a new podcast to the CARLI web site.

In this podcast, committee members Margaret Heller, Alice Creason, and Jen Wolfe discuss their CARLI Digital Collections Tumblr project. The discussion includes the idea for starting Tumblr and how the committee has implemented the project.

Public Services Committee Spring 2016 Open Houses 

The CARLI Public Services Committee is happy to announce two days of open house events on March 3 and 11, 2016. Come check out fellow CARLI libraries and some tools they're using to enhance services and operations.

Tech Savvy Online Tools for Public Services – Both days will be full of practical and innovative ways to engage students, make your day-to-day work easier, and communicate effectively with colleagues.

CARLI Holiday Hours

The CARLI office will be closed from December 24 through January 1 and will reopen on January 4. ILDS will not provide delivery service on December 24, December 25, December 31 or January 1. Business will resume on January 4.

Recordings and Slides from CARLI Annual Meeting Now Available

Over 130 people attended the CARLI Annual Meeting in Champaign on Friday, November 13 to celebrate 35 Years of I-Share and 10 Years of CARLI.  If you missed the meeting, or want to see any of it again, visit the event page to find a link to the recordings of the morning and afternoon sessions, as well as links to the speakers’ slide presentations. 

Reprints Desk Webinar for CARLI Libraries

CARLI member libraries can now save on Document Delivery charges by using Reprints Desk's A-Z Academic Document Delivery Service. To hear more about Reprints Desk, plan to attend the informational webinar on Tuesday, December 8 at 1 p.m.

During this 30-minute webinar, Reprints Desk will introduce Article Galaxy's collection of journal articles with special copyright royalty rates and demonstrate how their platform streamlines article acquisition workflows both directly and through integrations with systems such as ILLiad, Odyssey and RapidILL.

Register by Thursday, November 5 if you are planning to attend the CARLI Annual Meeting on Friday, November 13, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library is welcome. There is no fee to attend, and lunch will be provided.

Register Now for the CARLI Annual Meeting

The 2015 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held Friday, November 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library are invited to attend. The meeting, celebrating 35 years of I-Share and 10 years of CARLI, will feature a look back at the original vision for online academic library cooperation in Illinois and a discussion of this cooperation in the present context, an overview of CARLI in 2015, and a discussion about the future of academic libraries, and of CARLI over the next 5-10 years.
