I-Share Call Slips during Winter Break

With the end of the semester and holiday closures fast approaching, all I-Share libraries need to remember to extend the dates for all of your library’s call slip queues to cover the days your library will be closed.
The more libraries that follow the directions in the Best Practice, the better service all patrons receive.

Role of I-Share Liaisons Webinar

A 30 minute live webinar covering the role and responsibilities of serving as a CARLI I-Share liaison.
Description: Every I-Share library designates one individual to serve as the primary contact for I-Share related communications to and from the CARLI Office. Whether you are a new or experienced liaison, and whether your library is new to I-Share or a long-time participant, this webinar will cover material that is relevant to you.

I-Share Web-based Reporting Launched

CARLI is pleased to announce Voyager Web Reports Beta, a new web-based reporting tool designed by CARLI staff to provide an easy way for I-Share library staff to run reports against their Voyager databases without the need to install the Oracle/ODBC client and use MS Access.  Results can be viewed, sorted, and searched in HTML format directly in your web browser, or they can be downloaded in CSV format for local manipulation.  The reports come from the I-Share Shared SQL for Voyager Reports, or from the stock set of queries provided by Ex Libris in Voyager's default Reports.mdb file.

Features of the CARLI_Reports_2015.mdb File

Those who use Microsoft Access to run reports on data in the Voyager system will be familiar with the reports.mdb file. This is the file that you link to your Voyager database, after which it gives you easy access to the data in your database. CARLI maintains a custom version of this file that has many improvements over the default “reports.mdb” file that is automatically downloaded into the C:\Voyager\Reports folder.

Voyager 9.1.1 Upgrade: Batch Job Delays

June 12, 2015

This is just a reminder that due to the Voyager upgrade to version 9.1.1 this weekend (June 12-15), batch jobs will be suspended until Monday night, June 15. This means that there will be no circulation notices and no UB request promotion (promoted call slips) until Tuesday morning.

Additionally, any bibliographic record you save in Cataloging today or update in WorldCat using a bulk import production mode (e.g., "Express mode") will not appear in your local VuFind catalog until Tuesday, or in the I-Share union catalog until Wednesday.

Open Application Period for I-Share Participation

CARLI is seeking interested, qualified CARLI governing member libraries to participate in I-Share, the shared Ex Libris Voyager integrated library system currently operated by CARLI and used by 85 CARLI libraries. Libraries joining in this implementation round would begin migration planning in fall 2015 and go “live” on Voyager and in the I-Share union catalog in early summer 2016. A brief summary of I-Share costs and benefits is available at from the I-Share overview page.

CARLI-sponsored Library Management System Webinars

As part of CARLI’s project to seek a replacement for the Voyager software over the next few years, CARLI and the I-Share Next Task Force have invited firms that offer library management software to academic libraries and consortia to conduct an informational webinar about their product for CARLI Governing Member Libraries.

These webinars are open to any staff of CARLI governing member libraries. You may watch the webinar at the time it is presented, or watch a recording of it on your own schedule. Links to webinar recordings will be announced when they become available.

I-Share Next Task Force Seeks Specification Team Members

The CARLI I-Share Next (ISN) Task Force is coordinating the effort related to the selection of the next generation of I-Share, i.e., a shared library management system that will ultimately replace Voyager for CARLI’s I-Share participant institutions. They are coordinating all planning, analysis, specification compilation, Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation and proposal review; they will identify the finalist options; and they ultimately will recommend a final preferred solution to the CARLI Board.
