If you’ve followed along for the past three years, the CARLI Preservation Committee’s motto could be considered ″Slow and steady wins the Preservation Race″! In response to the results from the 2015 CARLI Preservation Survey, the Preservation Committee has focused its resources on the explicit needs of CARLI members with annual projects about Audiovisual Preservation and Disaster Planning. This year, the Committee will focus our efforts on Communicating the Value of Preservation.

Listening Sessions with CARLI Directors

CARLI Senior Director, Anne Craig, has been traveling to member libraries around the state for ″Listening Sessions″ with CARLI library directors. These informal, approximately two-hour sessions have been very informative and successful. Please look over the list of remaining sessions and plan to join Anne. During these meet-ups, she is eager to hear about your library′s challenges and successes in order to more clearly understand our member's needs and to be able to relate your stories to stakeholders.

As a book conservator, I attended this workshop to continue my awareness of mold and the effects it can have on our library collection as well as learn about new treatments and if there are treatments that are no longer recommended. I was looking forward to the hands-on salvage demonstration so that I would be better prepared for a future water disaster. – M. Schoenborn

On Sunday, August 27th between 7AM and 10AM, the CONTENTdm service will be moved to a newer operating system.

The new Production server will be built ahead of time, so the outage should be fairly brief while the systems are being swapped.

This Sunday, August 20th starting at 12:01AM, each Production Oracle database instance will be patched and restarted. There are 80+ databases to go through, but we expect the work to take less than two hours.

CARLI staff will make sure Production Voyager is working properly after Oracle patching is complete and will restart any services as needed.

CARLI Office staff are aware that many I-Share institutions are migrating or planning to migrate their computing environments to Windows 10. We're also aware that Ex Libris' statement on support for the use of Voyager 9.1.1 with Windows 10 has presented a challenge to libraries and their host institutions.
