• Minutes of August 13 approved with corrections.
• New date for October meeting: October 30 at 9am.
• New date for November meeting: November 19 at 9am.

Announcements

• Member Announcements:
  • Simone Williams (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville): A permanent Dean hired after 2 years of interim. Smithsonian Museum collaboration coming to a close.
  • Jennifer Lau-Bond (Harper College): The library is figuring out creative solutions for parents/caregivers and children. Doing kids’ kits checkouts.
  • Kimberly Shotick (Northern Illinois University): Their library is also giving out backpacks to parents/kids with toys/activities.
  • Charity Ringel (University of Illinois Springfield) and Dawn Sterning (Prairie State College): Their libraries have had success with a LEGO tables.
• CARLI Announcements:
  • CARLI Annual Meeting (October 22) has virtual option.
  • See CARLI Newsletter for all upcoming events including OER, Preservation Committee pworkshop, Culturally sensitive instruction.

Discussion

• Email went out about AI Symposium: CARLI Committees doing one event on AI.
• DEI Committee, Instruction Committee, Commercial Products and Primo VE Committee responded with interest.
• A second email went out with possible April dates (3rd week of April 14-18).
• Time frame: half day, 10am to 2pm with 45-50-minute sessions and 10 min breaks between sessions.
• Symposium ideas: demo of Primo Research Assistant, what are vendors trying to sell, AI implications for DEI.
