Do you have faculty that uses art images for teaching? Are you looking for ways to help them integrate digital images into their courses? CARLI can help!
CARLI Governing member libraries have access to the Saskia digital art image archive from Scholars Resource. This collection contains 30,000 digital images of paintings, sculpture, and architecture, including images from many important collections: the Prado, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Uffizi, and the Louvre as well as archaeological sites in Greece, Italy, Turkey, and Egypt.
The images are displayed in both high resolution and web-friendly display format, so whether teaching staff needs to add images to a PowerPoint presentation or use a high-resolution version to show details of a painting, they have exactly what they need. Additionally, the descriptive data about the images includes references to their occurrences in 19 major art history texts:
The Saskia archive is powered by CARLI’s CONTENTdm-based digital library service. CONTENTdm makes searching for the images easy. Users can access “pre-defined” searches that group images from major textbooks together, or they can use keyword or advanced searching to find the exact images they need.
An information sheet about Saskia is available that library staff may use to answer some of the common questions about using the collection.
