CARLI CONTENTdm upgrade to 6.10 complete

This message is being sent to all CARLI CONTENTdm contacts.  Please share this information with everyone at your institution who uses CARLI’s CONTENTdm software for collections in CARLI Digital Collections.

The server upgrade to CONTENTdm software version 6.10 has been successfully completed!  Library staff user account access has been re-enabled and library staff may once again use the Project Client and Web Administration after completing the “Library Tasks After the Upgrade” posted on the CARLI CONTENTdm Upgrade web page.  A summary of those tasks is below.

Required Library Tasks after the upgrade:

1.    The URL for accessing CONTENTdm Web Administration changes to: http://collections.carli.illinois.edu:8080/cgi-bin/admin/start.exe. Update any Internet browser bookmarks to the new URL.  
2.    The Project Client server URL must be changed in each Project that you will continue to use.  See http://www.carli.illinois.edu/sites/files/digital_collections/documentation/Cdm6_Updating_Server_Client.pdf for step-by-step instructions.  New projects created in the future must also use the new server URL; see the document CONTENTdm Project Client Starting a New Project.

Strongly Recommended Library Tasks after the upgrade:

•    CONTENTdm URLs for collection home pages, browse pages, and items will change in the new version, but there are automatic address redirects in place within the software to accommodate this.  Libraries will be able to update any links into CONTENTdm that appear on their local webpages over time.
