Katsina Doll - CARLI Digital Collections Featured Image

A lost statue left in a library admin suite sounds like a quality start to a mystery ready to be investigated by Rosemary & Thyme or whoever your preferred literary crime solver is. Beautifully decorated, the Hemis Katsina Doll used by the Hopi in their solstice ceremonies, arrived mysteriously at Ames Library in 2003 and was added to the collection. Who left it? Where did they get it from? Why this library? There are so many questions. Luckily for us it's available online for all to imagine the ceremonies it could be part of and also the mysterious "donor."
