Save the Date: 2018 CARLI Annual Meeting and Directors' Meeting

The 2018 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, November 2 at the I-Hotel Conference Center in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library is invited to attend.

A meeting of the CARLI Governing Directors will precede the Annual Meeting. More information about these meetings will be available in late August.

Call for Presenters: Resource Sharing Fall Forum

This is a reminder that the Resource Sharing Committee′s fall forum will be held at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library on Thursday, October 25, 2018. 
 
The committee is now seeking proposals for presentations related to any of these broad topics: 

  • Statistics & reporting
  • Marketing, promoting, and patron instruction of interlibrary loan and/or access services overall
  • Connections between interlibrary loan and collection development
  • E-Resources and interlibrary loan
  • Discussing damage to materials/ other patron-related issues

Health Science Librarians of Illinois 2018  

The Health Science Librarians of Illinois 2018 Conference will be held September 26-28 at the Cliffbreakers Riverside Hotel and Conference Center in Rockford, Illinois. The Conference will include chances for networking with colleagues and vendors, an opportunity to present posters or lightning talks, and several options for continuing-education courses.

The HSLI 2018 Conference Planning Committee is pleased to announce information about one of the continuing-education opportunities that will be available on the Conference’s Friday morning.

Gwen Wilson-MLS, AHIP, Health Informatics Coordinator/Librarian at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas-will teach the course “Building Partnerships with Faculty, Clinicians, and Other Stakeholders”. Conference attendees who select this CE course track will receive 4 hours of MLA CE credit. More information about the course is below.

Interested in strategies on building partnerships that lead to collaborative projects? This class will discuss barriers to building partnerships and detailed plans to help you overcome these obstacles. Learn some strategies that will help open opportunities for collaborative projects in both the academic and hospital settings. After four hours in a practical experience workshop, you will walk away with an action plan that fits you. 

HSLI 2018 Conference registration will begin Wednesday, August 1. Registrants will make their continuing-education course selections at that time. Registration fees include the costs of Conference sessions, meals, and continuing-education sessions. 2018 Illinois Library Association (ILA) Illinois Academic Librarian of the Year

Dr. Rob Morrison, Dean of Library and Learning Support at National Louis University, is the 2018 recipient of the Illinois Library Association (ILA) Illinois Academic Librarian of the Year Award. The award, presented by the ILA Illinois Association of College and Research Libraries (IACRL) Forum, recognizes an Illinois librarian who is making an outstanding statewide contribution to academic or research librarianship and to library development. The award is sponsored by Library Juice Academy. 
 
The Illinois Academic Librarian of the Year Award will be presented at the Awards Luncheon to be held on Tuesday, October 9, during the 2018 Illinois Library Association Annual Conference in Peoria. The luncheon starts at 12:00 PM.

2018 Crosman Award

The Illinois Library Association (ILA) announces Emily Johnson, Regional Health Sciences Librarian & Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago Libraries as the 2018 Crosman Memorial Award winner. The Crosman Award is named in memory of Alex Crosman, director of the Peoria Public Library at the time of his death in 1986. The award recognizes the achievements of the library workers who are new or relatively new to the field and encourages continued involvement in the profession. Other awards honor those who have accomplished a great deal over a long period of time; this award is to honor someone who has accomplished a great deal in a short time.
 
The Crosman Award will be presented at the Awards Luncheon to be held on Tuesday, October 9, during the 2018 Illinois Library Association Annual Conference in Peoria. The luncheon starts at 12:00 PM.
