Public Services Committee Open House at WNPL/Northwestern

Monday, April 3, 2017 - 9:00am to 3:30pm

The CARLI Public Services Committee is pleased to sponsor Open Houses at Winnetka-Northfield Public Library and at Northwestern University.  The theme for the Open Houses will be makerspaces and include presentation and tours of their local sites.

The Open House will include tours of:

  • The Studio (Winnetka-Northfield Public Library): The Studio is made possible by a generous gift given to the Library from the Staffileno Family, in order that the library create a space to honor the memory of Constance E. Staffileno. The Studio was created to embody Mrs. Staffileno’s love for art and art education, and to inspire generations of innovators and art enthusiasts. Located in the lower level of the Winnetka Library, The Studio features the latest technology and equipment, such as 3D printers, Adobe Creative Cloud software and a laser engraver, as well as classic art mediums like paint and canvas, to inspire and educate a community of artistic makers and creators.
  • The Garage (Northwestern University: The Garage is Northwestern's hub for student entrepreneurship and innovation. It brings together a cross-disciplinary community of students, faculty, staff and alumni who all share a passion for building new ideas. The 11,000 square foot space is located in the University’s North Campus Parking Garage.
    •  Mission: The Garage is a unique educational space for students to experiment, collaborate and build new ideas. Our community of students, faculty, staff and alumni inspire each other to be bold innovators and successful entrepreneurs.

CARLI will provide box lunches (sandwich, side, cookie) and a drink for lunch.
