Two proposals were funded for the  FY 2021 CARLI Research Funding Program. Proposals were reviewed and approved by a task force of the CARLI Board of Directors, comprising Karen Janke (Erickson Institute), Jacob Jeremiah (Oakton Community College) Anne Craig (CARLI), and Margaret Chambers (CARLI).

Caring for the Library Outsider: A Pedagogy of Care for Academic Librarians

Abstract: A pedagogy of care posits that care should be a primary focus of education. Teachers and librarians are called to exhibit care for students and to help them learn to be more caring. In particular need of care are “library outsiders,” those who feel like outsiders to library culture and academia. The purpose of this study is to explore how academic librarians reflectively practice a pedagogy of care in their work with students, particularly "library outsiders.

Zotero Promotion and Support: promote best practices and enable integration

Abstract: This initiative will provide a strategic support model for CARLI members to share expertise, materials, and assessment of the Zotero knowledge management software. It will provide proactive and coordinated exploration for the adoption of this important tool within the library, within the classroom, and in individual work spaces. It will integrate this personal information tool into our expanding suite of data handling tools.
