The Collections Enhancement Awards Program encouraged the sharing of collections resources for the institutions of higher education in Illinois. Awards fell into 2 categories:
- The Access and Analysis Awards provided funding for projects designed to enhance bibliographic access to current collections or to analyze current collection strengths and weaknesses. Some examples include creating electronic guides to archival collections; adding holdings information for serials; targeted analyses in designated segments of the state’s current collection; interlibrary loan studies; and reviewing the history and impact of the collection enhancement awards.
- The Collaborative Digitization/Collection Partnerships Awards supported collaborative projects among CARLI libraries, and historical societies, museums and other non-CARLI organizations and agencies in Illinois. The award specifically encouraged collaborative digitization projects.
The Collections Enhancement Awards Program is currently on hiatus.
