PDA Event: Native Tongue - The Public Library’s Role in Assisting Health Care Professionals with Community Health
Public libraries are more than just buildings. They are living ecosystems of community trust and information exchange. Because library staff interact daily with frequent patrons, they have a unique, firsthand understanding of the community's real-world information behaviors and needs. When healthcare professionals look to support public health and conduct impactful research, the library is the ultimate gateway to the people they need to reach.
In this webinar, Larry Daniels, Branch Manager at Durham County Library’s Stanford L Warren Branch, will demonstrate how to position the library as an accessible, vital resource that connects healthcare professionals directly with the community. Drawing from practical experience, he will present a scalable model of how libraries can intentionally assist and uplift vulnerable populations. Part of this webinar will include active discussion on the topic of community health and how public libraries fit into that work.

Larry Daniels is the Branch Manager at Durham County Library’s Stanford L Warren Branch. He received his M.L.S. from NC Central University. He became a librarian because he enjoys research and being in the know of the emerging ways of learning new information. Larry offers programs that revolve around health, business, and emerging technology.
