This session will discuss how information literacy plays a crucial role in how libraries can help educate their campuses about the pitfalls of AI. AI impacts not just higher education, but also social and communication spaces, the environment, and more. Because of this wide impact range, it’s important to ensure that libraries are knowledgeable on these topics so we can help spread that information to faculty, staff, and students.
By attending this session, you will get an introduction to what AI is, how AI is impacting these different areas, and how to begin planning how your library can begin tackling these topics on your campus.
Presenter:
Ayiana Crabtree (she/they) is a Student Success Librarian at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. While their main job is to make sure students feel welcome in the library through programming initiatives and instructional sessions for research support, Ayiana also has a strong interest in making sure students (and faculty) are up to date on AI developments, as the technology has a strong impact on higher education and libraries. Ayiana has presented on this topic at both ACRL 2025 and SUNYLA 2025.
