PDA Event: Artificial Intelligence & Academic Integrity

Thursday, March 16, 2023 - 11:00am to 12:00pm

Rapidly developing technology presents opportunities as well as challenges, and the recent release of the artificial intelligence technology ChatGPT has highlighted this dilemma. One primary concern in recent AI developments is the increased potential for plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty.

This talk will cover the basics of artificial intelligence, how it relates to academic integrity, and how libraries can respond. Associate Director of Library Services at Hope International University Steve Jung will discuss the need for changes in academic integrity policies to match the new technologies. After the main presentation, participants will engage in a discussion about how library instruction can limit AI use in the academic environment. 30-minute webinar plus time for Q&A
