- CARLI attended the ICOLC (International Coalition of Library Consortia) this past week in Chicago.
- Members
- Thank you to Elizabeth Nelson, Lisa Wallis, and Sara Rizzo whose terms on this committee have ended this year.
- Robin Hofstetter will co-chair ERMC with Jacob Del Rio in 2025/2026.
Discussion
- Sara Rizzo attended the Ex Libris Managing Electronic Resources training webinar. It was super helpful with the overlap analysis. CARLI members expressed this as a need for more training in survey results.
- The group looked at the April post-presentation feedback:
- Megan noted that it’s interesting that folks mentioned they are not Alma users. As a result, the group looked at how many members in CARLI are not I-Share libraries or Alma users: 97 I-Share out of 126 total members.
- Overall, the post-presentation feedback was positive.
- One solution to addressing the high staff turnover in CARLI institutions for electronic resources work, coupled with the prerecorded webinars, is to mention existing recordings from this committee in emails about upcoming training.
- The group discussed using the CARLI E-Resource listserv. Marisa mentioned that CARLI members can use the email to ask questions and search for answers from the community.
- The first draft of the ERMC Annual Report was approved as the final draft. Robin Hofstetter wrote the annual report.
- The group discussed with CARLI how to handle the NZ (network zone) collections for the entire consortium. Marisa mentioned that since 2024, when the EBSCO State of Illinois database purchase happened, CARLI has received a large number of tickets addressing the linking parameter setups in Alma. Many ideas were presented on both ends of the spectrum, ranging from reducing all NZ collections to nothing from EBSCO (Megan and Robin) to keeping all NZ collections (Elizabeth Nelson). The key is to find the middle ground that supports all CARLI members with a third option yet to be determined. A survey, a focus group, and work from the ERMC are ideas for moving forward. More will need to be discussed within CARLI and the ERMC.
