We are Harper College…the college in your community. The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago. Harper College is now one of the nation’s premier community colleges and one of the largest, serving approximately 29,000 students annually in Chicago’s northwest suburbs. Education: LTA Certificate or Associate’s degree required.
Experience: One year library circulation experience preferred and customer service experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Power Point required.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Harper College Library provides access to print and digital materials, study rooms, technology loans, assistance with citations and wireless printing for the students, employees and surrounding community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature. Work may involve lifting books and materials up to 25 lbs. of force on an occasional basis, pushing loaded book or media carts, and moving about in the work area.
Equipment/Tools Used: Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers and associated software, in order to perform the duties of the job.
Supervision: Under the general supervision of the Dean and receives direction from the Coordinator of User Services and Circulation Supervisor, receives oral and written instructions on work to be performed.
