Decisions

  • June 11 meeting minutes were addressed (minutes were approved prior to meeting).
  • Committee will settle on a regular monthly meeting time once all members are polled.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • ISU’s Milner Library is undergoing renovations to fix longstanding leakage issues.
    • Rush is also undertaking renovations involving relocating the circulation desk, moving computer terminals, and replacing carpeting.
    • COD will be hosting a summit of Illinois community colleges on open educational resources on Friday, November 30, along with College of Lake County. COD Library is also expanding the media lab, to be completed by September.
    • UIS Library renovations are ongoing with a target completion date of October.
    • CSU Library repairs from late 2017 flood are also ongoing.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Anne Craig shared that the I-Share NEXT proposal is moving along, with the RFP wrapping up shortly.
    • CARLI Strategic Plan is at the graphic designer, with copies available soon. PSC’s work will be seen in plan.
    • CARLI’s plan is to have CARLI board and committees work more closely on goals.
    • CARLI has applied for a $250K grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to help library staff use data-driven evidence to support student retention and graduation (3 year project).
    • Bradley Woodruff has joined CARLI as a Library Application Support Consultant.
    • CARLI budget allocation has been received- no cuts!

Discussion

  • Committee reviewed the CARLI Public Services Committee charge.
  • Regular monthly meeting day/time: Committee discussed meeting on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. CARLI staff will conduct a poll among all committee members to come to a consensus.
  • Important dates for 2018-19: CARLI Annual Meeting on November 2, 2018 at I Hotel in Champaign; Annual Project and Annual Report due May 31, 2019.
