Decisions

  • Minutes of the March 3, 2015 meeting were approved at the meeting.
  • The Open House concept will be repeated in the Fall, with a focus on conservation
  • The Annual Project will follow roughly this outline: 
    • Introduction— revisit the purpose of the survey
    • Summary—state of the state of library preservation in CARLI
    • Further refinement
    • PC recommended action plan
      • Short-term
      • Long-term
  • Summer Burn Recovery Workshop:
    • Save the date announcement can go out by early May
    •  Registration can open June 1-July 2.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 2:35 pm

Announcements

  • CARLI is underwriting the Burn Recovery Workshop; no registration fee is required.
  • CARLI is presenting an ebook conference on May 7 at the I-Hotel in Champaign.
  • The Springfield Open Houses were well-attended and evaluations were overwhelmingly positive.

Tasks Assigned

  • All committee members will recruit new members; preference is for staff members with preservation knowledge/expertise. The committee needs 5 new members—3/3 year term, 1 /2 year term, 1/1 year term. Nicole will follow up.
  • Lorraine will contact the Newberry Library about possible dates for an open house event in Fall 2015. Greg will contact the Northwestern University Library Preservation Department.
  • Beth McGowan will draft the preliminary report based on the Preservation Survey for review and discussion at the May meeting.
  • Annual Project report draft to be completed by April 28th.
  • Miriam and Lorraine will partner on a blog entry about training videos available for preservation and conservation techniques, digital preservation, or train-the-trainers, for the Fall.
  • Beth will write the May Newsletter Preservation Tip
  • Elizabeth and Nicole will talk with Business Services to order salvage wheels for the Summer Burn Recovery Workshop
