Committee Projects

FEATURED IMAGE and digitized Book of the Month

Both projects are going well.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Heller revised the last Google Analytics report (Fall Quarter/Quarter 2, October - December, 2013) to include Wikipedia (see list email 1/9 from Heller). This will be included or omitted on a case-by-case basis.

LISTING OF CARLI NON-CONTENTDM DIGITAL COLLECTIONS/"Other CARLI COllections"

The site is live. Several libraries responded to initial notifications on selected CARLI email lists. Notifications will also be sent to other CALRI email lists. Specific Internet Archive collections are represented individually. Illinois Digital Archive collections are represented collectively as the Illinois Digital Archive. This is because the former site doesn’t identify specific sub-collections but the latter site does.

ASSESSMENT FORUM AT IACRL (LATE MARCH, OAK BROOK)

Strohm, Heller, and Go are working on this. Clarage reported that the preconference is full with 120 registered attendees. If the presenters would like to poll the audience beforehand, she needs questions by March 5. The presenters may decide to ask attendees about their use of analytics software.

YEARBOOK AND NEWSPAPER DIGITIZATION

Maroso will be working on a determining a vendor selection process.

PODCASTS/WHITE PAPER

  • Episode 1. Go, Shelley, and Strohm are working on this. Shelley has sent questions to interviewee Jaime Schumacher. The interview is being scheduled. Post-production will be discussed after the recording is made.
  • Episode 2. Strohm asked attendees to think about possible topics to discuss at the March meeting. Maroso suggested basing it on the IACRL preconference material. The preconference will not be recorded. Since the preconference includes slides, this would be an opportunity to experiment with Adobe Connect.
  • White paper: Strohm asked for a volunteer to start an outline for the white paper. He will repeat the request via email since many people were absent from the meeting.

New Items

Contentdm

  • Strohm asked if there are size limits for CARLI CONTENTdm collections. Maroso said not at this time, but she should be contacted in advance if a large collection is anticipated.
  • Version 6.7 was recently announced. Maroso and Jessica Gibson (CARLI staff) are looking at version 6.6. Many of the problems present in previous versions have been improved. CARLI is setting up a test environment for version 6.6. Version 6.6 includes a page flip for compound objects that doesn’t work well, but this is a known problem and doesn’t preclude the overall usefulness of upgrading.

ConFerence Updates

Maroso went to ALA Midwinter.
