Graduate Assistant 50% Time - CARLI

The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) is seeking two Graduate Assistants (GA) to support activities related to the migration of approximately eight of its member libraries to Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE. The GAs would work closely with CARLI staff members as well as staff at member institutions. CARLI’s membership roster can be found at https://www.carli.illinois.edu/membership/mem-libs.

CARLI is a unit of the University of Illinois System Office, reporting to the Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Position Summary

Provide ongoing assistance with CARLI member migration to Ex Libris Alma/Primo

Responsibilities

  • Assist CARLI staff in configuring admin settings for new I-Share libraries
  • Data entry and verification for new I-Share libraries
  • Other duties related to member migration
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or international equivalent and current admission to or enrollment in the MS/LIS graduate degree program in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Preferred

  • Preference given to candidates beginning their degree program. An interest in a two-year assistantship period is optimal because of the investment in training required for this position. 

 Qualifications

Required

  • A successful candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong interest in consortial services for libraries, as well as integrated library management systems.
  • Admission to or enrollment in the MS/LIS graduate degree program in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is required.

Preferred

Experience with and/or interest in academic libraries.

Compensation and Hours

Compensation: $2,219.50/month; $19,975.50/annually
Hours per week: 20 hours
Job duration: August 21, 2023 – May 10, 2024
