Decisions

• Minutes of the September 13, 2024, Governance Board meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
• The Board approved revisions to the CARLI/University of Illinois Host Institution Agreement, the CARLI Membership Agreement, I-Share Participation Agreement and Digital Collections Images License Terms and Conditions Agreement. The agreement will be sent to the Board upon completion of a review for updated URLs.
• The Board approved the recommendation for CARLI Membership Fees for FY29–FY30 as presented by the CARLI Membership Fees and I-Share Assessments Task Force. Members of the task force are: Carolyn Ciesla, Elmhurst University; Dennis Krieb, Lewis and Clark Community College; Dallas Long, Illinois State University; Michael Norman, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Matt Ostercamp, North Park University; and Frances Whaley, Kishwaukee College. CARLI staff liaisons are Margaret Chambers, Anne Craig, Timothy David, Diane Day, Jessica Gibson, and Jennifer Masciadrelli. 
• The meeting was adjourned at 12:08 p.m.

Announcements

• CARLI reported several staff changes.
  • Denise Green, Library Services Coordinator, retired on October 31, 2024.
  • Diane Day was promoted to Senior Accounting and Financial Coordinator
  • Jessica Gibson was promoted to Associate Director, System Services
  • Jennifer Masciadrelli was promoted to Associate Director, User Services
  • Nicole Swanson was promoted to Assistant Director, Library Services and Outreach
  • Megan Pearson’s employment status has changed from visiting to permanent Library Services Coordinator
  • Yanira Cruz has been hired as Electronic Resources Coordinator to fill the vacancy left by Denise Green’s retirement.
  • Wyn Schell has been hired as a Library Services Coordinator in User Services
• The Statement on the Importance of Librarians in Academic Libraries is open for comment and endorsement.
• The CARLI Annual Meeting, on October 22, 2024, was attended by over 140 staff from CARLI member libraries and vendor sponsors.  
• CARLI will celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2025. Board members; Brian Keith, Eastern Illinois University; Rachelle Stivers, Heartland Community College; and Morgann Quilty, Parkland College, will work with the Program Planning Committee to plan a celebration. 
• Anne Craig has held listening sessions with CARLI directors at Northern Illinois University, University of Chicago, North Park University, Kankakee Community College, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Erikson Institute. One more session at Augustana College is planned for this year.
• CARLI staff are working with the Education Justice Project, an initiative of Education at Illinois, to distribute their books to interested CARLI libraries.
• CARLI staff are working with Ex Libris/Clarivate on the renewal of the Alma contract which will include updated pricing for CARLI members that are interested in joining I-Share.
• CARLI has announced the FY26 Ebooks Program.
• CARLI is partnering with RAILS, Heartland, SHARE, and Atla to host the 2025 Annual Meeting of the International Coalition of Library Consortia. The meeting will be held in Chicago May 4-7, 2025. 
• E-resources staff has negotiated new contracts with Mometrix and Third Iron. They are also currently negotiating an updated contract with Sage Premier.
• CARLI staff are planning a two-day program on July 29-30, 2025, for recipients of the Illinois SCOERs subgrants and others interested in open educational resources. 
• The Professional Development Alliance (PDA)’s two-year IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program planning grant to design, pilot, and assess a BIPOC Leadership Academy for Support Staff (BLASS) library supervisors without MLIS degrees kicked off with the sharing of an interest survey in November. 
• CARLI is working on an agreement with the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) to host the ACRL Roadshow: Assessment in Action, on June 5, 2025. The event will be held at Illinois State University.

Tasks Assigned:

• CARLI staff will compose a letter and include the comments received at the CARLI Annual Meeting for Secretary Giannoulias and President Killeen and send it to the Board for signatures.
• CARLI staff will add introductions to board member libraries to the agenda for March. Carolyn Ciesla and Stefanie Bluemle volunteered to present for their libraries.
