Decisions

  • Minutes of the September 9, 2022, Board meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 11:56 a.m.

Announcements

  • The Board welcomed new CARLI staff member Annie Serrano, Senior Library Application Coordinator.
  • Megan Pearson, Coordinator of the Illinois Digital Heritage Hub on the Digital DPLA will be joining the CARLI staff in January. The position is funded by a grant from the Illinois State Library.
  • The CARLI/UIUC Library Institutional Repository Project will run pilot projects from January through June 2023. Pending a successful pilot phase, the project will be available for CARLI members as a no-cost demo system in FY 24.
  • The E-Resources CY2023 Selection System closed with a 4% increase in total spending and a 3% decrease in the number of subscriptions.
  • CARLI completed a survey to gauge member interest in new vendor license agreements. CARLI will follow up with vendors mentioned.
  • CARLI E-Resources staff offered to training opportunities to members this fall for troubleshooting resource linking problems and addressing accessibility in e-resources licensing.
  • Member funding for the FY24 Ebooks program is underway. The deadline for participation is December 21.
  • The second round of subgrants for the Illinois SCOERs project has concluded. CARLI will open a third and final round of submissions in December.
  • Applications are still being accepted through December 16 for CARLI Counts Cohort 4, which will be held in 2023.
  • A CARLI Counts Curriculum Release Party will be held on February 23 to share the open educational resources available from the CARLI Counts projects. CARLI Counts was funded by a grant from IMLS.
  • CARLI is updating the CARLI Strategic Priorities. The updated document will be presented to the membership in spring 2023.
  • The CARLI Office space at Illinois Heartland Library System will be completed by March 1.
  • At a special meeting on October 31, the CARLI Board approved the I-Share participation applications of eight new libraries. This will bring the number of I-Share libraries to 96. The new I-Share libraries are:
    • Chicago History Museum
    • Chicago Theological Seminary
    • City Colleges of Chicago
    • College of Lake County
    • Elgin Community College
    • Illinois College of Optometry
    • Prairie State College
    • Saint John’s College of Nursing
  • CARLI has completed the process with Ex Libris to add the new I-Share libraries to the existing Alma Primo VE agreement. CARLI will work with Ex Libris and the libraries to determine the timing of the migrations. CARLI will hire 2 graduate assistants in FY24 to help with the migration.
  • The two graduate assistants selected for the first year of the Building Diversity Graduate Assistantship Program have completed their first semester. CARLI will begin the process for the FY24 program in January.
  • CARLI staff worked with a team from the University of Illinois iSchool Business Intelligence Group (BIG), on a data project for CARLI that produced different ways to manipulate and view the value letter data for CARLI members.
  • CARLI will hold a New Directors Institute on May 24 and May 25, 2023.
  • The CARLI Program Planning Committee has approved support for a Shared Spaces series webinar series.
  • CARLI Program Planning Committee has approved a plan to reimburse a portion of the registration fees for CARLI member’s attending the Creative Commons Licenses training.
  • CARLI will pay the registration fee for any member that wants to participate in the GLAM Job Fair.
