Decisions:

  • Minutes of the last committee meeting on September 11 were approved with minor change.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 10:40 a.m.

Discussion:

  • CARLI report:

    • CARLI annual meeting 11/1; register by 10/23.
    • RDA book cataloging training, with Chris Oliver, November 8, 2014, Schaumburg Twp. District Library, sponsored by Library Administrators Conference of Northern Illinois.
    • CARLI Board Retreat in November:  possibilities and implications of new ILS.

  • Old business:

    • IACRL preconference : Proposed topic approved by committee; Jim Edstrom to ask David Stern what more is needed from committee at this point.
    • Bib Note Webinar: OCLC’s WorldShare Metadata Collection Manager Record Updates Service in the I-Share Environment document is up on CARLI web site. Webinar portion is 90% done; draft shared with CARLI office and will be available shortly, once suggested changes have been made.
    • Spring Forum: April 8, 2014 date confirmed; need to identify theme, topics, and presenters. Possible topics include: RDA; Integrated technical services (blurred lines between acquisitions and cataloging); Impact of new ILS; Future of MARC; Duplication of effort in records processing.
    • RDA in consortial environment best practices article: Points from 10/25 conference call will be shared with the committee. 

  • New business:

    • In-person committee meeting on November 13, topics include: white paper, Spring Forum, IACRL preconference, best practices article, ILS upgrade and elements to be sensitive to in timing.
