Resource Sharing Committee Meeting: January 23, 2019

CARLI Update:

  • Ready for Spring moving forward with I-Share Next, Alma-Primo
  • CARLI is sending out a survey to the directors of all I-Share Libraries. After all surveys are in they will decide on Vanguard libraries.
  • Rock Valley College can now borrow and lend promoted requests and will be fully integrated in the next few weeks at which time they will also receive direct requests.

Discussion:

  • Review of most recent ResShar-ig email topic and response:
    • Eric received no new responses to the last email question. He will compile all the responses for the question at this time.
    • We are not sending out a question this month.
  •  Annual Project:
    • Debbie sent out the survey and received 54 replies. A reminder will be sent out next week to the list-serve and the newsletter.
    • Survey will close on February 15. We can review before the next meeting.
    • Question 6 regarding non-print materials has the highest number of “needing changes” responses.
    • Debbie will upload to the box with names of responder schools once we are finished.
    • The excel file is in folder.
    • Survey should go beyond circulation department – include reference librarians, ILL people. Get more points of view, everyone thinks differently.
  • Other Business
    • Think of a webinar topic for spring. Webinar can be from April to June.
    • Try to plan open houses for the spring.
      • Open houses typically include tours of 2 schools, presentations from the schools or discussions among participants.
      • Past open houses:
        • 2017 Eureka and Illinois Central; U of I Chicago and UI Health and Sciences
        • 2016 Illinois Weslyan and Illinois State; IIT and School of Optometry
        • 2015 Olivet Nazarene and Kankakee Community; U of I Springfield and State Library; Lake Forest and Trinity International
        • 2014 NIU and Kishwaukee; Southern Illinois Carbondale and John A Logan; U of I Urbana
      • This year have 2 in spring, 2 in summer/fall
        • 9:30a -10a Registration; 10a – 12n first library; 12n – 1:30p lunch and transit, 1:30p – 3:30p 2 nd library
        • No Mondays, best perhaps Thursday or Friday.
        • Lunch will be at whichever school has easier catering.
        • Possibly consider parking. Summer parking is easier.
      • Possibilities for this year:
        • Bradley and U of I Peoria
          • Kari will contact Bradley first, then CARLI will contact U of I Peoria. (UPDATE: Kari has gotten the go-ahead for Bradley either from June 3-7 or June 10-14)
        • Augustana and Blackhawk
        • Joliet and University of St. Francis
        • Triton and either Dominican or Concordia
        • Principia and Lewis and Clark, but downstate can be difficult for attendance.
