Resource Sharing Committee Meeting: October 17, 2018

Updates:

  • The 2018 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, November 2.  Interested parties should register to attend. [CARLI will not live-stream because the video quality has been too poor previously.]
  • Voyager Cataloging Client Training will be held on Thursday, October 18 and Friday, October 19 at the CARLI office.
  • Instruction Committee planning webinar on working with diverse populations
  • Registration closed Monday, October 15, for the CARLI Resource Sharing Fall Forum to be held on Thursday, October 25 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. Total registrants (includes presenters and committee members) number 49.
  •  Eric said poster session at ILA October 11 was well received.

Discussion:

  • Final arrangements were discussed for the Fall Forum.
    • Keynote speaker Travis McDade has registered which is a good sign. Debbie and Lorna planning to purchase a copy of his book to give away to an attendee.
    • The agenda / schedule for the Fall Forum was finalized. 
      • Following the Registration and Welcome, Travis McDade will be the keynote speaker. 
      • The Packaging / Damage Presentation/skit will last 30 minutes.
        • Belinda will give a Kahoot quiz on normal delivery wear-and-tear vs. billable damage. 
        • Marcella and Kari think they have all the props they need.
      • The break-out sessions are set.
      • Bingo "rules" were discussed; winner to get a signed copy Travis McDade’s book.
  • The committee decided that the annual project will consist of a review of Universal Borrowing Consortial policies. 
    • As part of the project, the committee will develop a survey asking what members think is functional about current UB policies and what they would change. 
    • Pertinent survey questions will be devised by the committee and looked over by a CARLI staff member before the survey is released to members. 
    • Typically, the finished product for the Resource Sharing Committee annual project has been a white paper, although the committee can select another format if desired.

Tasks assigned:

  • Rand will draft the next listserv question on using "reserves" for non-course/text/non-traditional material (spaces, rooms, equipment). He’ll circulate for revision before posting it on RESSHARE-IG.
  • Continued review of I-Share Resource Sharing Code and Universal Borrowing standardized policies chart as Resource Sharing Committee Annual Project.
