PSWG Meeting Minutes: June 20, 2012

Decisions:

• The agenda was approved as distributed with one correction.
• The May meeting minutes were approved.
• The meeting adjourned at 1:20 PM.

Announcements:

• Chicago State University Open House
  • Evaluation reports were sent to Fatemeh Asadi, Director of Public Services, Chicago State University and to plenary speakers David Stern and Tom Peters.
• Joint Program
  • The Collections Working Group and PSWG joint program, titled Fostering Healthy Relationships: Faculty Education & Outreach, will be held at Joliet Junior College on 7/12/12. Details are in the registration page at at http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-serv/mem-train/register/120712pswgforum/.
    • 60 participants have registered for the joint program to date.
    • Luncheon discussions will be facilitated using questions that will be revisited during the final program session. Those questions are:
      1. Collection Development: How might you create an assessment tool that identifies the key service areas for review?
      2. Reference & Liaison Services: Describe your newer services that are possible only by using new tools and techniques.
      3. Instruction: Describe in what ways you are addressing (in the classroom and/or virtually) the ever more complicated aspects of curriculum-based individual and group research support?
      4. R&D: In what areas are you conversing and collaborating with faculty about possible enhancements to teaching and research support?
    • Registrants will receive the questions in advance of the program.
    • Any member attending the joint program at Joliet Junior College on 7/12/12 willing to assist at the morning registration table is asked to contact Elizabeth.
• Year End
  • A volunteer to serve as Chair of the PSWG is still needed for 2012-2013. Contact Elizabeth and Jen to express interest.
  • April, Matt, and Bruce are concluding their participation in the PSWG. Their service is very much appreciated.
  • Andrew, Marianne, Sandy, Sean, Sue, and Jane will continue with their second or third years of participation.
  • Anne Buchanan (Saint Xavier University), Leslie Rios (Lincoln Land Community College), and David Stern (Illinois State University) will be joining the PSWG for 2012-2013.
  • Elizabeth and Jen have made enormous contributions as our CARLI Staff Liaisons. We are grateful!
  • Continuing members should watch their e-mail for an announcement concerning the August in-person meeting in Champaign.
