Decisions

  • Minutes of April 15, 2026 were approved.
  • Diana Sykes will update the annual report with an evaluation summary from the Sauk Valley Community College event.
  • Kimberly Shotick will update the annual report with a summary of the Oakton event.
  • The committee will discuss electing a new chair, or co-chairs, at the June meeting.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Kelly Fisher (Eureka College): Eureka College's new Student Life, Career Services, Counseling and Learning Center offices are now housed in the building along with the library. Circulation services will be located there full-time as of May 18, and the books will be moved yet this summer in anticipation of being fully reopened by August.
    • Kelly Fisher (Eureka College): Eureka College was the recipient of one of the CARLI Member OER Initiative Funding projects. The project's title is Creating an Open Community: Encouraging Faculty Use of OER Through Education, Engagement and Incentivization at Eureka College. It will help establish an OER program at the institution.
    • Diana Sykes (Erikson Institute): Erikson Institute was also a recipient of the CARLI Member OER Initiative Funding projects.

Discussion

  • The Learning Commons and Collaborative Library Spaces Open House event at Oakton on May 27, 2026, is full. 
  • Survey results for A Virtual Visit to the Sauk Valley Community College's Learning Commons on April 21, 2026, were very positive. Attendees appreciated the virtual format. 
  • The committee will need to select a new chair or co-chairs but given the absences, it can be discussed at the next meeting.
  • Due to the upcoming deadline (April 26, 2027) for the new rule for compliance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Public Services Website content, such as slides and recordings, will need to be made accessible. The committee should consider which items are worth keeping, and which may be outdated and can be removed.
