Announcements

  • Elmhurst College has hired a new VP of Academic Affairs, April Edwards, who came from Ursinus College.  They are presently interviewing for a VP for Student Affairs.
  • CARLI Report:
    • CARLI staff are continuing to test a new version of VuFind (I-Share’s public catalog), and they are also continuing to prepare for a number of events.  Especially noteworthy is the June 15 “move” day for everyone in the consortium to migrate to the ProQuest EBook Central interface.  There will be webinars (March 2 and March 14) to introduce libraries to the ProQuest Ebook Central (public) interface; and (March 9 and 15) for ProQuest Library Central (staff view).  These webinars will be recorded and made available on the CARLI website.
    • There will be an April 6 Resource Sharing Workshop, and one in May as well.  Many other workshops on the CARLI calendar.
    • CARLI is still waiting to hear from the State of Illinois regarding the budget.

Decisions

  • Minutes from January 2017 meeting were approved, with changes.

Tasks Assigned

  • Cory agreed to take minutes.
  • Sue and Cory will continue to finalize the schedule for the April 3 open house at Winnetka-Northfield Library and Northwestern University.
  • Julia will assemble information about parking and transportation for the April 25 open house at Harold Washington Library and IIT.
  • Sue will follow up with last year’s open house presenters and will ask about supplementary material (such as Power Point slideshows) instead of/in addition to video presentations for the Productivity Tools Video project.
  • Elizabeth and Denise will send a Word version of last year’s annual report of committee activity  to Sue and Cory, who will prepare a draft of this year’s annual report by April meeting (tentatively scheduled for April 20).

Discussion

  • Makerspaces annual project list: no update
  • Open houses:
    • March 17 (Urbana-Campaign): Denise reports 21 people registered (23 is limit). Library science student would like to attend pre-lunch discussion.
    • April 3 (Winnetka-Northfield and Northwestern): 24 slots for registrants.  Lunch will be at Northwestern University.
    • April 25 (Harold Washington and IIT): Schedule still being finalized, but lunch will be at IIT (Panera likely).
  • Productivity Tools Video Project:
    • We have an Open Room Power Point instead of video from Wheaton College.
    • Two presenters have agreed to create videos (Jennifer Sharkey at ISU and Colleen Shaw at Heartland CC).

Next meeting

Will poll membership to see if Thursday, March 23, 1:30-3:00 p.m. is amenable instead of original date of Thursday, March 16, which is one day before the first open house.
