Announcements:

  • New members of the committee are Raeann Dossett, Parkland College; Richard Stokes, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and Julia Venetis, Elmhurst College.
    • They will serve from July 2014 – June 2017.

Discussions:

  • Review of the June 16th Library Security Forum
    • There were 72 attendees.
    • Overall, the evaluative comments have indicated that the attendees found it informative and timely.
    • A link to the best practices shared, the video that the officer showed, and the panelists’ names and institutions will be posted to the Public Services website.
  • Review of the June 2nd eBook PDA Forum
    • Most attendees had not implemented a local system patron-driven e-book acquisition.
    • The forum focused on the collection and technical services side of library processes.
    • As the CARLI e-Book PDA project gets underway, there could be questions related to public services arising.
  • Parking Lot items:
    • IACRL Assessment pre-conference website: http://www.carli.illinois.edu/PSCIACRLPreConference140321
      • Resources beyond those discussed at the pre-conference can be added under the various sections.
      • Discussion is still needed on future maintenance and sunset policy.

Decisions:

  • Paula was selected to take minutes
  • David will email the committee to see if the continuing members not able to attend today’s meeting are interested in chairing the committee next year. If not, Becky and Paula agreed to co-chair.

Tasks Assigned:

  • A link to the Security Forum website will be posted to the Public Services website (Debbie).
  • The Space Video website will be promoted through the PubServ-ig list (David after group review of announcement wording).

Meeting Dates and Deadlines:

  • This was the last meeting of the 2013-14 committee. Thanks to David and everyone for a dynamic year of ideas, initiatives and programs!
