  • The OER Task Force along with LOUIS: The Louisiana Network is planning a webinar for faculty to be held during Open Education Week on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 - 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • The Created Content Committee is hold a Copyright Q & A with Sara Benson, Assistant Professor and Copyright Librarian at UIUC, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Registration is open.
  • There are three in-person Open Textbook Network Train-the-Trainers Workshops:
    • Monday, April 23, 2018 – 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Governors State University, University Park
    • Tuesday, April 24, 2018 – 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Loyola University Chicago, Water Tower Campus

  • CARLI is sponsoring two ACRL Workshops at member institutions:
    • Scholarly Communication: Friday, May 4, 2018 – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University of Illinois’s I-Hotel and Conference Center. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is hosting this program.
    • Engaging with ACRL Framework Workshop: Monday, May 14, 2018 – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at ISU Alumni Center. Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University are co-hosting this program.
  • CARLI Public Services Committee is sponsoring an Open House at Millikin University’s new University Commons on Thursday, March 15, 1018 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Preservation Open House – University of Chicago Preservation Department and Oriental Institute
    • Save the date has been sent to the membership for the April 20, 2018 program.
    • Ann will be sending information to Nicole and Elizabeth about parking, access, and keynote speaker so they can create the registration website.
    • We will limit registration to 2 per institution, and open it up in March if there is space. 
  • Assignments for Newsletter tips – Communicating the Value of Preservation and Training
    • To accommodate the February newsletter deadline, the preservation tips are due on February 19.
    • Ann Lindsey’s article on Digitization will go in the February Newsletter along with Mary’s article on Staff Training. Ann Thomason’s article on Facilities Managers will go in the March Newsletter along with Melanie’s article on Student Workers.
  •  Future workshops and open houses
    • IFSI Burn Simulation and Recovery – June 13, 2018
      • Save the Date is in process. Bonnie will send it to Nicole and Elizabeth by February 19th Newsletter deadline.
      • IFSI has indicated that setting up prior to June 13 will have an additional charge. The burn simulation will be setup on the day of the program.
      • Materials (books, albums, etc.) can be sent ahead of time through ILDS. The ILDS Code will be UIUC and then mark the boxes Attn: David Ehrenhart, Illinois Fire Service Institute. The IFSI would prefer not to receive more than a box a day so we will have to coordinate shipping. The plan is to secure shelving and then coordinate shipping materials based on need. 
    • Spring 2019 – Protective Enclosures
      • Report of subcommittee (Bonnie, chair, Mary, Susan, Meghan, and Melanie)
      • No report.
      • Bonnie will send start-up email to subcommittee.

Decisions:

  • Minutes of the January 8, 2018 meeting were approved.
  • Discussion of Preservation Open House – University of Chicago Preservation Department and Oriental Institute moved up in the agenda before discussion of IFSI Burn Simulation.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 11:10 a.m.

Tasks assigned:

  • Ann Lindsey will send open house details to Elizabeth and Nicole.
  • Elizabeth and Nicole will inquire with Jennifer Teper about shelving for IFSI.
  • Ann Lindsey and Mary will submit Newsletter articles by Feb. 19th.
  • Bonnie will email the subcommittee for The Protective Enclosures workshop.
