Decisions

• The September 2022 minutes were approved.
• Rescheduling of tours at the Newberry Library and Chicago History Museum have been tabled for a future date, possibly Summer 2023.
• November meeting changed to November 30, 2022 at 1 PM CST.
• December meeting has been canceled.
• Meeting adjourned at 1:41 PM CST.

  • The Professional Development Alliance will have a talk on November 10 on book repair. (https://www.carli.illinois.edu/pda-event-book-repair-circulating-and-general-collections)
  • CARLI staff shared an email that appeared on the CORE preservation email list from Jennifer Teper regarding a collaborative project at the University of Illinois to make sustainable case paper.

Discussion

• Monthly Topics for Preservation 101 articles were discussed. Addition of Preservica/WARCS in month(s) where appropriate was encouraged. Committee members expressed interest in alternatives to Preservica.
• Updating of website resource links were discussed. New links should be added to committee’s Box note and a message sent via email for committee discussion. If committee agrees on the addition, CARLI staff will add to the webpage.
• Discussion of commercial library binding preferences ensued.
• Other topics discussed briefly included the Driehaus Museum and the upcoming Chicago Collections Consortium program featuring new directors at area institutions on November 3, 2022 at 6 PM CST.
