Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Becky Koch announced a new dean at Illinois State University, Dallas Long.
    • Ann Lindsey announced a new associate university librarian for research and learning, Jennifer Green.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • New programs that were approved by the CARLI Board at its December meeting have been announced to the membership via CARLI’s Announce email list.
    • Creative Content Committee will have a program on OpenRefine on April 30th. Registration will open soon. Limited class size, but still to be determined.
    • Open Education Week is the first week of March, The CARLI OER Task Force is promoting the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s in-person and livestream presentation from Professor Jasmine Roberts of The Ohio State University on March 3rd, 3:30 – 4:30.
    • CARLI has purchased Open Athens for all members. The January 29 webinar provided a good overview of the service.
    • The Instruction Committee and the Public Services Committee are hosting a program on Joliet Junior College, Getting Ready for Primo VE on  April 2. Registration is not yet open.

      • Ann sent a list of questions to Lesa Dowd at the Newberry on staff training.
    • Open question to members, is it acceptable to put our interviews on CARLI’s Facebook page? Do we need permission from the participants?
      • Mary said she would be okay if it was a blurb or teaser for publicity, but the interviews themselves would be different. Tonia agreed, also the interviews should not be stored on Facebook. Rob brought up the issue of whether or not we should have a release form. Elizabeth and Nicole will look into CARLI’s policies. The Committee agreed that a blurb about interviews with a link to the interviews could be posted on CARLI’s Facebook page.
  • Open House Tours
    • Registration will open for the Preservation Committee on February 14th, later for everyone else.
    • Registration will require that a survey be filled out so that people can be placed in two of three possible tours at the Newberry.
    • 10 – 12 at the Newberry
    • Lunch from 12 – 1:00
    • Chicago History Museum 2 – 4
    • Nora has written instructions for using the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
    • Parking information will be collected for the registration page.
    • Various committee members will help get people from the Newberry to the CHM either walking or using the CTA.

Decisions

  • Minutes of the January 2020 meeting were approved with corrections sent. Nora made a motion to approve, Becky seconded.
  • An informational blurb and link to our monthly interviews can be put on CARLI’s Facebooks page, but not the entire interviews.
  • Will made a motion to adjourn, Meghan seconded.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 11:01 am.

Tasks Assigned

  • Ann Lindsey to take minutes.
  • Elizabeth and Nicole will research CARLI’s policies regarding oral history/interview release forms.
