Tasks Assigned

• Minutes taken by Joslyn Allison.
• Jayna and Lauren will look at other committee charges for language to borrow to help us clarify our charge.
• Jayna and Nicole will work on creating the report summary of the Statement on funding.
• Nicole will send out a scheduling poll for the survey subcommittee meeting.
• All: look at spreadsheets here to volunteer for continuing education that is on-going. 

Decisions

• August minutes were approved with minor corrections.
• Committee agreed to adopt the proposed community agreement.
• A subgroup will be formed for working on the Faculty and Student OER surveys.

• Member Announcements:
  • Mackenzie Salisbury (Northwestern University) will be presenting at Open Ed Conference in Denver. Michelle Leigh will be attending in person and Nicole and Elizabeth will be attending virtually.
• CARLI Announcements:
  • CARLI Annual Meeting is October 21, 2025. Registration is available. 
  • Illinois Library Association
    • OEN/CARLI Meetup at ILA Conference: Oct. 15, 3:00-4:00 p.m.

  • Pressbooks: CARLI Staff looking into what they can do to obtain without doing a bid to give members the option to purchase.
  • Open Ed Conference: CARLI team doing a 10 min virtual presentation.

Discussion

• Discussed the Community agreement. 
• Discussed updating the committee charge, in particular what we can do on a policy level in addition to or in place of some of our training work. Suggestions were given to add “advise on promotion and advocacy for OER” and to further this discussion next month.
• Statement on Funding: Now that many endorsements and personal statements received, what do we do with this statement?
  • Possible call out in CARLI announcements with link to the page
  • A report/write-up of who/how many participated and the general trends of comments.
  • An additional way to note that the statement is still open for more support.
• Faculty OER survey and student survey.
  • Set up a subgroup to work on the survey.
  • Joslyn Allison and Brandon Board (not available Oct-Dec), and Mackenzie Salisbury expressed interest in joining the subgroup.
• ILOE: Illinois Open Education minutes are shared in the summit report. 
  • Next steps are to create some subcommittees and work groups 
  • Next event is Sept 12:
    • Maturity Model Workshop on 9/12The Open Education Maturity Model: A Tool for Strategic Planning Friday, September 12th at 10:00AMhttps://cod.zoom.us/j/87834297813In this session, workshop participants will engage with the Open Education Maturity Model, a flexible framework designed to assist institutions in reflecting on and planning for their open education initiatives. Participants will be asked to assess the current stage of their open education efforts in order to set goals and plan for future growth.
• Open Illinois Hub (OER Commons):
  • Additional clear documentation on how to get resources added to the hub, and how to get users added
  • Suggested an Add-a-thon for adding the resources with support.
• Continuing Ed workshops: For those that are repeats, use sign up sheets, and we will discuss further next month.
