Decisions

  • Dan, Tineka, and CARLI staff will explore 3rd party ancillaries.
  • The committee will review the content of the OER Faculty Workshop over the summer. Lauren, Kim, Dee Anna, and Dan will review.
  • Open Pedagogy workshop will be offered for SCOERS awardees.

Tasks Assigned

  • Minutes taken by Tineka Scalzo.
  • Understanding and Promoting Open Educational Resources – June session Elizabeth will follow-up with the instructors, Dan and Kim.
  • CARLI staff will schedule the OER Faculty Workshop Review sessions.
  • Elizabeth will add subject specific OER sites to the CARLI OER webpages.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Kim Hale (Columbia College Chicago): Columbia is a recipient of an Illinois SCOERs grant.
    • Lauren Kosrow (College of DuPage): COD received an Illinois SCOERs grant.
    • Dan Matthews (Moraine Valley Community College): IACRL faculty award for growing OER, winners were selected. Hoping to increase funding for next year.
    • Dee Anna Phares (Northern Illinois University): NIU received an Illinois SCOERs grant.
    • Tineka Scalzo (City Colleges of Chicago): Wright will fund additional OER Review projects and accelerated Adopt projects this summer.

  • Continuing Education
    • OER Course: Understanding and Promoting OER
      • Elizabeth will follow up on the June session of the course. Dan and Kim will be the instructors.
    • OER Faculty Workshop
      • Elizabeth will follow up on scheduling the September session. Lauren and Kim will be the instructors.
      • Lauren, Kim, Dee Anna, Dorinne, and Dan volunteered to review and update the presentation.
    • OER Office Hours
      • Dan will lead the session in May, Christina will take notes.
      • No Office Hours over the summer.
  • Open Education Week Events
    • Nicole is working with SPARC to add the recording
    • Consider a student panel for next year.
  • Website Review
    • Elizabeth will add subject specific OER sites to the website.
  • Student Survey
    • Sent to college administrators and provosts on April 5, 2023. Will be open until the end of December.
    • Five info sessions have been held.
    • 177 responses so far.
  • Open Pedagogy Workshop
    • Will add one workshop for SCOERS awardees
  • CARLI Support for Creative Commons Certificate Program
    • Interested people need to register for the Summer Session that begins before June 30.
  • DOE Open Textbook Pilot Grant: Illinois SCOERs: Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources
    • Eight new awardees for round three.
    • Nine additional funding for round one and two awardees.
  • 3rd Party Ancillaries
    • Dan and Tineka will follow-up.
  • House Bill 4022
    • Committee discussed the status of the bill.
