  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Illinois SCOERs – Six projects were awarded during Round 2 funding. CARLI has opened up Round 3 funding with proposals due February 28.
    • CARLI has moved to 100% remote staff.
    • Nicole – registration open for overrservicing at your library (Angelique)

Discussion

  • Milind Basole (visitor-presenter) from the Center for Innovation, Teaching, and Learning (CITL) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign shared information about their services.
    • ETexts at IL = Etexts@illinois.edu
    • CITL has created a series of 1-hour modules; accessible online ebooks that are germane to courses taught at their campus: Students earn Completion Certificates
      • Finance Course – self-study module (1 hour); taken by several hundred students in college 101 classes
      • Dollars and Sense: an Intro to Finances
      • Media Literacy - “Media Matters”
      • Nutrition – to come
      • Wellness – to come
      • Ethics – to come
    • Access:
      • Hosted on Kaltura.
      • Currently only available to those with a University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign login.
      • He’s interested in exploring a way to let anyone in the world access.
      • Milind will set up access for the CARLI OER Committee  members. Each must use a Google login.
      • Hosting costs are an expense. They are looking for an underwriter for hosting costs.
    • Committee members suggestions: host in MERLOT if the modules have a CC_BY license.
      • The content is currently free, but it is not openly licensed.

  • Student Survey
    • Survey materials submitted to IRB and waiting to hear back.
  • Open Pedagogy Program
    • In March, committee members will give the presentation will be given to a NIU Cohort.
    • On April 25th  at 1:00, committee members will give the presentation to CARLI. The program will be offered to members teaching faculty.
  • OEN Certificate in OER Librarianship
    • Currently collecting applicants’ receipts/giving reimbursements.
    • CARLI support is only for  Illinois academic librarians.
  • Creative Commons Certificate Program
    • There was an announcement in the December Newsletter, funding is available for 30 participants for the program that begins in either January or  June 2023.
  • Illinois SCOERs Grant Update
    • Awarded Round 2 to six projects.
    • Opened up Round 3 with proposals due February 28.
    • CARLI is working with LibreTexts so that it will be a platform for sub-grantees to publish the OER created via the Illinois SCOERs Grant.
  • IACRL OER Award
    • The ILA funded program will provide five  $500 awards for OER.
