Announcements

  • November 16th is CARLI annual meeting: keynote speaker on DEI issues—meet your colleagues and network. December program from PDA—“A Gentle Introduction to Chat GPT”

Decisions

  • The Instruction Committee approved New Directions/New Users as the theme for the year. They generated a number of possible topics and decided that all events could address issues of AI and LLMs, non-traditional students, and JEDI issues.
  • The Instruction Committee agreed that Skills for Life-Long Learning and Relationship Building would be the specific subjects of Fall programming.
  • 10/30 at 1:30 p.m. was set as the date for the first event, co-facilitators were set, and a draft of the description was created.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.

Tasks Assigned

  • Denise: check availability of some suggested readings  (ASAP)
  • Denise and/or Debbie: Send out survey for replacement dates for November and December
  • Instruction Committee Co-Chairs: send out a poll with possible readings as well as brainstorming sheet for November event (ASAP)
  •  Full Committee: Vote on preferred reading (10/6) and edit descriptions/suggest discussion questions (by 10/13)
  • Event Co-Facilitators: Prepare script for event (by 10/12)
  • Full Committee: Look Over Description and Script, add any final suggestions (by 10/13)
  • Denise and/or Debbie: Send out first announcement (10/16)
  •  Denise and/or Debbie: Send out final announcement (10/23)
