Announcements   

• CARLI Announcements
  • Annual Meeting and 20th Anniversary is October 21, 2025 in Champaign at iHotel. There will be cake.
  • Secretary of State released a statement about IMLS cuts. 2025 federal funding should be on its way, it was signed by Congress. FY26 funding is uncertain and will need support from our community.
  • Committee members names were removed from the website per February discussion and decision.
  • Preservation committee is scheduling a PDA in May featuring a graduating UIUC student who has done an LGBTQ+ history of places in Champaign County.

Discussion

• AI Symposium Update
  • Committee members coordinating this panel are meeting regularly. The CARLI AI Symposium will take place on April 15th.
  • 250 are registered! This committee's panel will present first for the day.

• DEI Current Events Discussion and Reflection
  • Leaving a permanent space on the agenda for this discussion. Some months there may be little or no discussion, but leaving a safe space for conversation.
  • Is there a space for DEI activities or is it too volatile? Do we react? Act? Pause?
  • Need to be effective in planning and listen to what people need.
  • Committee will continue to meet and be active.
  • DEI is embedded in CARLI’s strategic plan.
  • Optimism is necessary. Librarians will collect, archive, share.
  • We’ll take a status measure again in April.

• March 2025 agenda approved.
• January minutes will be posted and voted on in April.
• February minutes approved.

Tasks Assigned

• Member recorded the March meeting minutes.
• Member is scheduled to record the April meeting minutes.
• Everyone submit resources to the PADLET.
