Announcements

CARLI Updates

  • Calendar Year 2023 Cycle:
    • Work on pricing for CARLI e-resource offerings is ongoing; the selection system will tentatively be open from October 10 - November 11.
    • Jenny will send out updates the week of September 12
    • CARLI continues to work on an agreement with MIT Press for this cycle
  • Jenny will present on the brokering program Monday, Sept. 12
  • Jenny introduced Marisa, a new employee at CARLI. Marisa will be working with e-resources and Alma
  • Elizabeth provided an update on OER; Illinois SCOERs has opened round 2 of grant funding and is doing a call for applications
  • Jen presented a CARLI proposal for an ad hoc group to review OA collections in both Alma and OCLC Collection Manager. Several members of CPC volunteered.

Discussion

PRODUCT PROPOSALS

Kanopy BASE: the committee decided to compare title lists with existing streaming collections and discuss further at the October meeting.

DeGruyter University Press Library eBook collections: the committee decided to not move forward with this proposal

Annual Project

  • The committee continued to discuss possible topics for an annual project. Suggestions discussed included OER and Open Access topics: management of OA collection/content, buy-in from faculty on OER, and read & publish agreements. Forums, webinars, and panel discussions are possible deliverables. Jenny Taylor is putting together some programming for CARLI about Open Access models and the benefits to libraries of all types, particularly smaller libraries. The committee decided to table this topic until next meeting.

  • Minutes from the August meeting were approved.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 11:59 p.m.

Tasks Assigned

  • Committee members with existing streaming subscriptions will compare title lists with Kanopy BASE for next meeting
