Decisions

  • April meeting minutes were approved.

Tasks Assigned

  • Minutes were taken by Chad Buckley.
  • Committee’s annual report – Keith and Dan will be working on this.  Keith has an outline started, and is working on reports on subgroups’ activity. Requested that DEI and Alma Analytics subcommittees send him brief summaries of their activities.
  • Will need to select new chair(s) at the June meeting. Send Keith and Dan an email if you might be interested.

Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Scott Thomson (Rush University) – Weeding is ongoing. Being a health sciences library, the collection is very journal-heavy, and this requires unique considerations.  Online backfiles are very expensive.
    • Keith Eiten (Wheaton College) – Starting another weeding project focused on microforms. Chad noted ISU did a microforms review.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Elizabeth Clarage – Changes for the FY23 Ebook Program are now posted on CARLI web site.
    • Jenny Taylor – The Selection System closed on Monday (5/16). The overall dollar spend was about the same as last year. Some cancellations were noted, and Jenny and Nicole are looking for patterns.

Discussion

  • Weeding Ebooks subcommittee – Keith will be working on this.
  • DEI subcommittee – No updates other than what was reported last time. Suggested language was sent out in the most recent CARLI newsletter. Other projects for next year?  May need to think about that more. Elizabeth noted that DEI is part of all CARLI committees’ charges now.
  • OA Books/Journals subcommittee – Making progress. Journal collections in the list – keep some based on reputation of publisher. There will need to be more research on others, and may put off decisions on some until next year. Check with CARLI staff about how users are actually discovering these collections. Some records are from collections in the OCLC Knowledge base.
  • Alma Analytics subcommittee – Met last week, finished work on webpage.
  • Good mix of resources for beginners and more advanced users. Online discussions next year for CARLI members – may collaborate with other CARLI task forces.
