Announcements

  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Update on Oxford/Wiley ebooks. CARLI met with Oxford this week and will meet with Wiley next week to discuss year 3 of the project. There is an issue with a few Wiley titles. If we cannot buy them, other titles will be substituted. Also, more records have been added to the catalog. The crowdfunding timeline is being adjusted this year, as many libraries indicated March was a difficult time for them to make budget decisions. CARLI hopes to have information out sooner but will give libraries the option to commit at a later date.
    • Jenny Taylor reminded everyone that the Calendar Year 2022 selection cycle is open. Please send questions to her.
    • Reminder that the CARLI Annual Meeting will be held virtually on Monday, November 10. The agenda is online.

Discussion

  • Some libraries have noticed that a few records for print materials didn’t transfer from Voyager to Alma. Jen Masciadrelli said this problem, to her knowledge, has not been widely reported. She reminded everyone that CARLI kept the migration reports. Libraries can look back at these reports if needed.
  • Keith Eiten reported he is updating the literature review for the Weeding Ebooks Project.
  • The Open Access Ebooks collections subcommittee met. Jen Masciadrelli and Elizabeth Clarage are working on a list of active collections in the Network Zone. The committee will evaluate the collections to see if they are recommended. Andrea Imre will be the Task Force liaison.
  • Alma Analytics subcommittee met. They will identify and create documentation on what anyone with an Alma login can find, ex. last checkout date, number of circulations. They will also work on documentation and training for specific, more complex data that can be pulled from Alma Analytics. Everyone on the CMC is welcome to suggest topics. Andrea Imre and Amy Killebrew will be the Task Force liaisons.
  • DEI subcommittee met. They are reviewing library literature and reaching out to other libraries to see how they have assessed their collections.
  • Lorene Kennard is working with OCLC for a possible reclamation project to identify actual library holdings. This project will help clean up the local catalog and be useful for ILL requests.
  • Dan Blewett asked if anyone is getting questions about diversity in their collection. Kris Veldheer said not from administrators, but it has come up in the accreditation process. Members foresee this question coming up more often. Andrea Imre reminded everyone to point out the diversity added to their local collection by having access to I-Share materials.
  • Keith Eiten asked if anyone has a library internship program. Several members in the group have had interns, and others are interested in having a program. All agreed that internships provide a good introduction into the field and benefit the profession.
