Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • COD now has LibGuides.  They have a travelling exhibit from the National Vegetarian Museum, and they are hosting a Dominican University library student for a practicum.  They are revamping their technical services.
    • DePaul has quarters and next week is finals.  They have filled their IT librarian position and will soon be interviewing for several open positions.
    • Paolo is now Assistant Head of Acquisitions at Northwestern University.
    • IMSA is closed for spring break next week.
    • At Oakton, the library will now be a tour stop for new students were they can get their library card during orientation. They have many programs as part of Skokie Coming Together on Polish culture this month. The Library Dean at IIT is retiring at the end of the month. Devan Savage will be the Interim Dean. They also have 3 vacant positions. They also have an open event in March called Women in STEM.
  • CARLI Updates:
    • The Alma Vanguard phase is beginning. A test load of data is anticipated for September. CARLI will met with ExLibris soon to confirm dates. The projected to go live is still in 2020. Weekly project updates will be posted on the CARLI website.
    • The CARLI CLIR update project will focus on 19th century items with an Illinois connection.
    • A protective enclosure workshop hosted by the Preservation Committee will be held on May 8 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
    • There will be an OER Workshop at Loyola University Chicago on April 29.
    • Annual call for committee volunteers is coming up soon.
    • CARLI continues to work with Purchasing on an Ebook Request for Information.

  • David Bell took minutes.
  • Consortial e-book RFI is underway, please let Elizabeth know of any vendors you would like notified of the RFI.
  • OA subcommittee will look at collections for possible addition for next month.
  • Committee will revisit Scholarly Communications Website next year.
  • Michelle will take minutes in April.

Decision

  • Minutes of the last meeting were approved.

Discussion

  • Textbook Reserves – The survey has been extended, and results are still coming in.
  • UB Stats – Dates selected for webinar. Webinar 1 will be June 11; Webinar 2 will be June 18, both 10-11 a.m.
    • Still seeking a co-presenter for Webinar 1 to present for 10 minutes.
    • Discussion ensued of what data collection developers can use.
  • Change Management Forum – 120 registrants so far with a healthy waitlist.
  • Scholarly Communications website – Elizabeth suggested we discuss whether this page should be revised to incorporate the many changes to scholarly communications. Committee will revisit this next year.
  • Open Access E-books – CARLI has loaded bib records for the first collection. They should display in local catalogs soon.
