ASSESSMENT FORUM AT IACRL

The presentation went well, though the question and answer session at the end was a little quiet.  Paul said he got some good feedback at the actual conference. Presentation was about Google Analytics, how to go beyond basic statistics, assessing both content they have and how desirable it seems to people.  Title was Web Analytics for Digital Collections: Appraising Collections and Assessing Impact.

YEARBOOK AND NEWSPAPER DIGITIZATION

No update.

PODCASTS/WHITE PAPER

  • Podcast: trying to schedule time to record first episode.  Planning is beginning for second episode
  • White paper: No volunteers yet to start organizing info on wiki into a general outline into a paper.  Actual writing will be a collaborative effort of the whole committee.   Amy suggested splitting the outline creation into sections, so no one is responsible for all of it.  White paper will focus on podcasts with a general outline of: what was done, how it was done, and what was learned. Some concern expressed since we haven’t done the first podcast yet, but consensus is that we should stay on top of this and start by splitting the work up into before/after sections. Julia and Mary create the outline for the "before" section.  Benn and Howie will try to cover the end, but since it will be about "lessons learned" it will be something the entire committee can contribute on.  CARLI wants this for June 6 Board meeting, though the group will likely want the document a few days beforehand.  Tentative date for the finalized paper is end of May.  No required lenght/number of pages for the white paper—"whitepapersource.com" says 4-8 pages, though shorter or longer will not be an issue.  Amy created a space on the wiki to work on white paper and sent URL to group.
