  • Minutes of the June 7, 2013 meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m.


  • Tom Dorst has resigned his position effecting October 11. Following his departure, Connie Walsh will be handling work with ILDS and ISL committees, and Margaret Chambers will manage the membership responsibilities. 
  • CARLI staff completed work on several important enhancements to VuFind over the summer. The I-Share union catalog and all VuFind local catalogs may now take advantage of new RDA data elements and some previously unexploited data elements in older catalog records. In addition, CARLI implemented a new search filter in the VuFind union catalog that allows users to restrict the display of e-resources to only those with their library's holdings or HathiTrust holdings.
  • CARLI staff migrated Production Voyager and the Oracle databases to a Linux server environment during late June and early July. 
  • The calendar year 2014 e-resources selection cycle will open in mid-October. 
  • CARLI is working with Pixo to redesign the CARLI selection system.
  • CARLI is negotiating a new agreement with Sage. The current agreement ends in December 2013. 
  • CARLI is working on an RFP for the aggregated databases. The current agreement with EBSCO ends in June 2014.
  • As of mid-September, patrons from 75 I-Share libraries had requested a total of 1173 items through the CARLI Print Patron Driven Acquisition Project.
  • The CARLI Annual Meeting and Governing Directors' Meeting will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Champaign on November 1. The sessions at the Annual Meeting will feature research findings based on CARLI information or from CARLI libraries.
  • The New Directors' Task Force has been appointed and has begun planning for the New Library Directors development program. The task force members are Jim Cubit, Lake Forest College; Paula Kaufman, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Felice Maciejewksi, Dominican University; Connie Poole, Southern Illinois School of Medicine; Rachelle Stivers, Heartland Community College; and Frances Whaley, Illinois Valley Community College.
  • New I-Share libraries Kishwaukee College and University of St. Mary’s of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary went live on Voyager in July. The College of DuPage, JKM Library, Lincoln College, and MacMurray College will go live in I-Share in early 2014.
  • CARLI is working with the Illinois State Library to develop an academic library staff leadership program within ILEAD U. 

Tasks Assigned 

  • The Board directed staff to plan a retreat before the next Board meeting to discuss the strategic and technical implications of a Request for Proposal for a new ILS.
