CARLI staff enabling Alma “Loan Status Notice” letter, 1/29

On Friday, January 29th at noon, CARLI will turn on/enable the Loan Status Notice letter for all I-Share institutions.
This is currently letter #79 in the Letters Configuration List found at Alma Configuration-> General -> Letters-> Letters Configuration-> Loan Status Notice.

The item’s institution sends the Loan Status Notice. As such, your institution will send this letter to both local and I-Share patrons who have material checked out from your institution, when there is a change in the status of their loan.

A change in loan status includes:

  • The due date for an item has changed, regardless of whether or not a recall was issued for that item.
  • A recall is issued, but the due date does not change.
  • A recall is issued, and the due date does change.

Before the letter is enabled on 1/29, please make the change below, or contact CARLI Support for assistance:

  • Recommended Customization: Change the addressFrom field to be the email address that Alma should use as the email’s sender.
    • This is also the email address that would receive any patron replies to the message, so please select an email address at your institution that can receive patron replies.
    • Library staff with either the General System Administrator or Letter Administrator role can make the edit in Alma Configuration-> General -> Letters-> Letters Configuration-> Loan Status Notice

Your institution may do further customization of the letter, if desired, but remember that both local and I-Share patrons who have your institution’s material on loan could receive this letter, so the letter should be appropriate to all patrons. You can contact CARLI Support if you need to send different versions of the letter wording based on the patron’s user group.

If your institution wishes to deactivate this letter so that it is never sent to patrons, you can do so by moving the "Enabled" toggle switch to the off position in the Letters List, after noon on 1/29.
Please be aware that if you choose to deactivate the letter, patrons will not be notified when library staff recall material nor when their material’s due date is otherwise updated.

Please contact CARLI Support at with any questions.
