Harp Players - ca. 1940-1959
From Sharing Our Past, A Visual History (University of Saint Francis) in CARLI Digital Collections.

This online collection contains digitized photographs, brochures, press releases, newsletters, posters, and other materials related to the history of the University of St. Francis, the City of Joliet, and Will County.

The Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate have been serving in Joliet since 1865. The collection provides insight into the daily and scholastic life of college students in the area, showing the changes over time in educational and social norms.

Although the women in the photograph above are unidentified, music was an important part of the students' education at the College of St. Francis (as it was known then). Sister M. Charles Zieverink was a professor in the music department for 38 years and an accomplished harp player. She would have been these girls' teacher and accompanist.
