PDA Event: Metadata for Digital Preservation

Metadata, and especially preservation metadata encompassing the technical and administrative aspects of description, is essential for providing continued access to your digital objects. It provides assurance that digital objects are authentic, renderable, and useable. This webinar serves as a starting point for understanding the kinds of information you will want to gather to support digital preservation, using current guidelines, standards, and models in the field to identify core information required to steward digital objects over time. 

The BLC is proud to partner with the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) for this series of five virtual programs on digital preservation practices. 

Presenter:

Alison Fulmer provides training programs, assessments, consultations, and disaster assistance to cultural heritage organizations nationwide. Since joining Preservation Services in 2021, she has completed eleven assessments and taught over 70 hours of workshops, webinars, and web courses on physical collection preservation, digital preservation, audiovisual preservation, and emergency preparedness. 

Alison has nine years of archives experience, which includes working with academic, religious, municipal, and performing arts archives in and around Boston and Pittsburgh. Alison earned a BA in Archaeology and a BA in Anthropology from The George Washington University and an MLIS with a concentration in Archives and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She is certified by the Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) and holds a Digital Archives Specialist Certificate from the Society of American Archivists (SAA).
